SUKI ZHANG

an artist based in Toronto

When I was young, I often got sick. Every time when I fell ill, I closed my eyes and I saw that the whole space was constantly enlarged and then reduced. When I zoom in, I feel incomparably vast. When I zoom out, it is smaller than the fingernail, but it is getting heavier and heavier.

When I grew up I started practicing Vipassana. I often had the same feeling that I had when I was a child. When the space is reduced, the idea can be swept all over the body. When the space is enlarged, the body seems to be dust.

I keep thinking about the relationship between each object and everyone and the universe. According to quantum mechanics, the elements that make up the universe are magnetic fields and waves. When I do Vipassana exercises, I feel that objects are different from the three-dimensional space have been seen by the naked eye, but multidimensional space.

My creation has always been based on my thinking, from the universe to the parts of the body, from the relationship between man and the universe to the relationship between myself and myself.
